Tips for Preparing for a successful online Session
Research tells us that health consultations, coaching and counselling sessions can be just as effective for many people, as in person sessions. There are in fact, many advantages to engaging with online health supports.
Some of the advantages to online sessions:
You can connect from the comfort of your home, office or a lovely spot outside in nature.
You don’t need to live in a major city to access support, living rurally or remotely no longer needs to be a barrier to getting the help you need.
No need to worry about dressing for an appointment, battling the traffic and finding and paying for a carpark.
Less time commitment without the need to travel.
You don’t need to put appointments on hold if you are a little too unwell to head out but still well enough to chat.
You can still attend your appointments whilst travelling
Make sure if you have a strong Wifi connection and and are familiar with how to adjust your video and audio settings in Zoom. If you do not regularly use Zoom, try a couple of test calls first with a friend or family member.
If you are using your phone as opposed to a laptop or desktop for the session, make sure you can set your phone up without needing to hold onto for the call.
Ensure that your device has enough charge or that you have a charger available.
Select a well lit, quiet and private space for our session where you will feel comfortable talking openly. Some people find headphones help to minimise outside distractions.
Make sure you have a comfy seat with some water or a cup of your favourite beverage beside you.
Have a pen and paper or a device available in case you want to make a few notes.
Pets and babies are most welcome if you choose to have them with you but please consider how this will impact on your session. Older children should be cared for by another adult during our time together.
